How to use PuraFilters™ Cooking Oil Filter Machines

For the best results PuraFilters™ filter machines should be used on a daily basis. Daily filtering will remove food particles from the oil and prevent them from being refried when the oil is next heated to cooking temperatures.

Without daily filtering cooking oil is usually discarded before it loses its ability to fry food. It is discarded because unfiltered food particles are refried, blacken the oil, create smoke and discolour the food. Daily filtering removes these particles.

To pump the cooking oil out of the frying pan:

Roll the PuraFilters™ machine on its fitted castors up to the frying pan and connect to a standard 13 amp power supply. The oil in the frying pan can be filtered from cooking temperatures up to the maximum temperature recommended by the oil supplier.

  • Place the nozzle (which is on the end of the blue tube and below the pistol grip) into the oil in the frying pan and switch the pump control to the ‘Extract’ position. The oil will be pumped into the tank of the filter machine at a rate of around 25 litres per minute.

When the oil has been pumped into the tank of the filter machine the control switch is returned to the 'off' position and the cooking oil is ready for filtering.

To filter:

  • Replace the nozzle in the body of the filter machine.

  • Start filtering by switching the control switch to ‘Filter’ and leave the oil circulating around the machine and through the filter paper, which is located at the bottom of the machine’s tank, for 3 or 4 minutes before returning the control switch to the 'Off' position. The filtered oil is then ready to be pumped back into the frying pan.

To return the oil to the frying pan:

  • Remove the nozzle from the filter machine, hold it with the nozzle end in the pan and switch the control switch to ‘Return’. The oil will be pumped back into the frying pan in about 2 minutes.

After refilling the frying pan:

  • Remove the woven filter paper from the filter machine and replace with a fresh paper ready for the next day’s use.  One filter paper should filter the oil from all the frying range up to 4 frying pans, provided filtering is done daily.

  • The whole process will take no more than 10 minutes per frying pan.

  • When the oil in all frying pans has been filtered, disconnect the filter machine from the power supply and stow away beneath a work surface or in a quiet corner.

Daily filtration will increase the active life of a pan of oil by up to 80% and reduce oil costs by up to 40%. It will also enhance the appearance, taste and quality of the food fried in the frying pans.
